Sulfur Processing Operations Technician

Your day at Chemtrade

It’s 3 : 00 a.m. in Mount Vernon, WA, and you’re getting our sulfur operations ready for a smooth start. You’ll walk the plant, check piping and valves, verify steam pressure and temperatures, and prepare equipment for steady production. You’ll blend and control product, assist with sulfur prilling, and support emulsified sulfur activities. When materials need to move, you’re confident on a forklift or wheel loader. Throughout the morning, you’ll help with PMs, watch tank truck loading / unloading, and keep housekeeping top-notch—stepping in to cover teammates as needed (excluding Operator C level).

Schedule, Reporting, and Pay

  • Location : Mount Vernon, WA
  • Schedule : 3am-11am (M-F)
  • Reports to : Plant Manager

Compensation : $30.90 / hr, non-exempt

What you’ll operate and learn

  • Gain proficiency in Sulfur Prilling and Emulsified Sulfur plant operations.
  • Mix, monitor, and control product and process conditions.
  • Train on cooling towers, heat exchangers, pumps, mixers, conveyor systems, and bucket elevators.
  • Track steam pressure and temperature; support boiler operation monitoring.
  • Build skills in general plant maintenance and routine PMs.
  • Observe tank truck loading / unloading procedures and pump operations.
  • How your time is typically spent

  • Assist operation of Sulfur Prilling Plant : 50%
  • Assist operation of Emulsified Sulfur Plant : 5%
  • General Plant Maintenance : 10%
  • Operate Forklift : 10%
  • Operate Wheel Loaders : 10%
  • Oversee and assist loading Emulsified Sulfur : 15%
  • What you bring

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and prior maintenance experience.
  • Comfort with weights / measures and following established procedures.
  • Preferred : Forklift and wheel loader experience; prior industrial environment exposure.
  • Ability to read and write in English; clear communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Physical demands and work environment

    To succeed, you’ll regularly sit, stand, walk, reach, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; climb stairs and vertical ladders; and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. Close vision may be necessary. You must be fit for duty and able to work safely in :

  • Awkward or confined spaces
  • Elevated areas
  • Outdoor settings and adverse weather
  • Noisy conditions
  • Areas with dust and chemical odors
  • Medical requirement
