Description :
This position involves caring for adult patients in a telemetry unit.
The average daily patient census is approximately 30.
Patient conditions may include diabetes, congestive heart failure, infection, sepsis, COPD, and surgical cases such as kidney stones and general surgery.
The unit caters primarily to adult patients and accommodates a variety of medical needs.
Nurses should have experience in managing central lines, chest tubes, and performing telemetry monitoring.
A typical patient-to-nurse ratio is 1 : 5.
Nurses are required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity.
Weekend coverage includes every other weekend with a commitment of six weekend shifts in six weeks.
Specialized equipment used on the unit includes patient lifts, telemetry monitoring systems, and capnography devices.
Interdisciplinary support is available, including respiratory services, physical therapy, and social services.
Travelers are expected to deliver high-quality patient care while managing the complexities of adult medical-surgical needs.
