Senior Manager, EHS
Under the direction of the Vice President of EHS for Connect and Control Technologies (CCT) and Industrial Process (IP), the Senior Manager, EHS partners to develop and implement EHS program & initiatives for all current and future CCT and IP facilities in the region in order to ensure compliance, prevent or correct unsafe environmental working conditions, execute company programs; provides technical assistance to plant management for environmental and occupational health and safety-related issues and processes.
Responsibilities
- Manages team of EHS (possibly sharing other functional responsibilities) in California, partnering to effectively complete their and own responsibilities in support of the business. Reports effectively to Vice President of EHS on all areas of responsibility.
- Visits each IP regional facility periodically on a frequency sufficient to ensure ESH programs are functioning properly, identify / correct areas needing improvement and build an effective rapport with site teams.
- Participates in ITT EHS audits and prepares own facilities for same, including annual self-assessments.
- Monitors environmental and safety regulations and legislation for California sites and advises management of requirements. Prepares and submits all reports required by regulations, statutes or ITT policies.
- Develops and writes EHS policies that have the capabilities of being applied globally. Facilitates trainings of continuing technology improvements for EHS Development and progress.
- Refines EHS structure to define roles and responsibilities for all team players.
Oversee and assist with a variety of site and business-based EHS activities under the responsibility of assigned ESH resources including :
Reviews sites' safety observations, near misses and incidents, and ensures action plans are identified, and executed to resolve common themes, root and contributing causes, based on a prioritization appropriate for the region and businessesEHS training to educate leaders, supervisors and workers about safety policies, laws, and practices. Develops employee training programs, emergency contingency plans, written safety communications plans and policies and proceduresDevelop and implement all activities with respect to area safety audits, personal protection equipment programs, and all other prevention programs.Ensure that all facilities use proper procedures for hazardous and non-hazardous waste disposalResponsible for development / implementation of local administration of ITT Corporate policies regarding Environmental Safety & HealthRegularly review ongoing safety committee minutes and audit / inspection reports with site ESH coordinatorsEmpower first line supervision and management to implement multifaceted Environmental Safety and Health program. Attributes include machine safety, ergonomics, waste / emissions reduction, Job Safety Analysis and program assessment activities.Assist facilities with incident investigations and root cause corrective action plans and corrective action implementationIdentify training needs and develop on-going employee training programs, Emergency Contingency Plan, written safety communications, facilitates Business Continuity Planning for the region, policies and procedures.Examine plans and specifications for new machinery or equipment to determine if all safety precautions have been included (Environment, Safety. & Health Project Review form). Reviews plans for manufacturing process capital expenditures and operating changes for compliance with environmental and safety requirements. Due diligence process for potential acquisitions and divestitures, ESH integration processAssisting ITT corporate with special projects as requiredQualifications
Education : Bachelor's degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university in Engineering or the physical sciences, with
Experience : Ten to fifteen years experience and / or training in the region; or equivalent combination of education and experience in industrial environmental, health, safety
Skills / Knowledge :
CIH or CSB Certifications is a plus (Manufacturing or Industrial experience required)
Must be well versed in current government regulations and change mechanisms pertaining to environment, health and safety in the countries within the region.
Effectively managing a team of remote ESH and blended professionals.
Ability to manage ESH issues through a central software platform, ensuring accuracy in data entered and usability of data for decision-making and sound analysis.
Ability to effectively manage a team of ESH professionals to high performance results, in ensuring regulatory compliance, continuous ESH performance improvement and professional development.
