Description :

This position involves working in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.

Candidates must have experience with EVD and trach / vent.

Preferably, candidates should be familiar with Epic and Alaris systems.

The unit has 12 beds, with varying patient census depending on the season.

The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1 : 2.

Common patient diagnoses include trach / vent, DKA, respiratory issues, and surgical cases.

RNs are required to titrate drips, including propofol, fentanyl, and epinephrine.

There is a charge nurse on each shift, who does not take an assignment.

There are no nurse aids or patient care techs on this unit.

A pediatrician is available in-house during the day and may take calls from home at night.

RNs are expected to troubleshoot with respiratory equipment such as vents and BiPAP.

There are tele / monitor techs available, but RNs will need to read and interpret their own strips.

Scheduling allows flexibility, with up to five shifts in a block if it meets unit needs.

Weekend requirements include five shifts over six weeks.

Holidays may require staffing, expecting at least one during the contract period.

There is no on-call or standby requirement.

Floating to pediatric assignments is mandatory, with the possibility of sitting assignments as well.

Dress code permits any color scrubs.

The facility has a radius rule of 50 miles for applicants.
