Job Summary :

The Pediatric Registered Nurse provides comprehensive and compassionate care to pediatric patients with a variety of medical and surgical conditions. This position requires strong clinical skills, collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, and the ability to adapt to a dynamic hospital environment.

Responsibilities :

Deliver high-quality, patient-centered nursing care to pediatric patients.

Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care based on nursing standards and evidence-based practice.

Monitor and manage patients with respiratory, diabetic, surgical, and mental health diagnoses.

Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal outcomes.

Provide education and support to patients and families.

Adhere to infection control and patient safety policies.

May float to NICU and assist with pediatric patient sitting as needed.

Unit Information :

Beds : 41

Nurse-to-Patient Ratio : 1 : 4

Common Diagnoses : Respiratory illness, diabetes, surgical cases (trachs, g-tubes, shunts, hernia repairs), seizures, suicidal ideation, and mental health.

No cardiac cases.

Charge Nurse present on each shift (usually without a patient assignment).

Patient Care Techs available (1 : 8 during the day, 1 : 20 at night).

Pediatrician in-house during the day; available on-call at night.

No tele experience required (telemetry monitored remotely).

Home vents occasionally used; travelers not required to have trach / vent experience.

Scrubs : Any color (must be clean and professional).

Orientation : 2 shifts (12 hours each).

Requirements :

Active RN License (State of Idaho or compact license).

Minimum 2 years of recent pediatric nursing experience preferred (first-time travelers accepted).

Current BLS and PALS certifications (AHA or ARC).

CPHON certification preferred (for oncology patients).

Experience with Epic EMR preferred.

Additional Details :

Charting System : EpicCare Inpatient (Epic Systems Corporation).

Weekend Requirement : 5 shifts every 6 weeks.

Holiday Requirement : May be required to work at least one holiday during contract.

Floating : May float to NICU.

Call Requirement : None unless trained for NICU float.
