Clinical Cancer Prevention aims to establish and conduct the highest quality collaborative translational and clinical research program investigating risk assessment, risk reduction interventions, cancer risk and early detection markers, and cancer screening; supports and enables the Cancer Prevention Center to deliver cancer prevention, screening and surveillance services, to conduct state-of-the-art cancer research and to translate these research findings to the general population as the new standard of care; establishes a cancer prevention education program to train the next generation of cancer prevention researchers, clinicians and health care providers; and disseminates cancer prevention advances throughout MD Anderson, the community, the nation and the world.
The ideal candidate will have experience in primary care doing clinical breast exams, pap tests, and prostate exams. Training period will require full-time onsite presence. Candidates should be able to work at Fannin Tower, Undiagnosed Breast Clinic, DI West Houston, and / or DI Missouri City.
KEY FUNCTIONS
Patient Care :
Demonstrates population-based competencies that cross the continuum of care.
Independently demonstrates and provides age appropriate clinical expertise in cancer prevention and detection and consultative services.
Educates patients, families, individuals, and professionals on cancer prevention and risk reduction.
Research / Process Improvement :
Develops and revises clinical guidelines, protocols, and procedures for various clinical services and participates in curriculum revision and development.
Collaborates, initiates, and participates in cancer prevention research efforts and incorporates research into practice.
Service :
Represents the Division of Cancer Prevention and M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in professional activities and maintains professional development and competency.
Participates in professional activities as deemed by management (i.e., institutional committees, research projects, community speaking and marketing).
Walking from clinic to off-site locations to attend meetings, provide services, and pick up / deliver various forms.
