Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a night shift position at a Magnet-recognized Level I Trauma Center, requiring BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and a MO or compact RN license.
Responsibilities
Work in the ICU at a short-term acute care teaching hospitalPatient ratio is 1 : 2Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts from 19 : 00 to 07 : 30Weekend shifts required every other weekendPatient population includes respiratory failure, ARDS, acute chest pain, cardiac arrhythmias, stroke, cardiac arrest, DKA, multi-organ failure, sepsis, and pre / post-operative surgical and transplant casesCare for medicine, thoracic, abdominal, and neuro-medicine overflowUses equipment such as IV pumps, CRRT / dialysis, ventilators / BiPAP, invasive monitoring, and defibrillatorsCharting is done in Epic; Epic experience is requiredFloating is required within the ICU service lineNo on-call requirementScrub color is navyResponsible for comprehensive care of critically ill adult patients including those with multi-system organ failure and complex post-surgical casesMagnet-recognized and teaching hospital with Level I Trauma Center statusFloat between ICU units based on facility needsNo block schedule availableNo local candidates; must live more than 75 miles awayNo more than 7 days of requested time off per 13 week contract; no time off allowed during the first week of orientationPermanent employees must wait 1 year before returning as a travelerTravelers can work up to 18 months and must take a 3-month break afterwardsFacial hair must comply with fit testing requirements for PPEModules must be completed pre-startMonthly parking passes available through hospital securityRequirements
Active MO or compact RN license requiredMinimum 2 years of recent ICU experienceCurrent BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications requiredProficient in medical and surgical intensive care, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, 12 lead EKG / ECG, CVP, pulmonary artery catheters, arterial line management, blood product administration, central and PICC line care, IV sedation, emergency medications, cardiac and vasoactive drip titration, CVA / acute stroke management, BiPAP and ventilator support, ABG interpretation, suctioning, phlebotomy, wound care, infection prevention, and isolation precautionsEpic charting experience requiredCannot reside within a 75-mile radius of the facilityNo first-time travelers acceptedPending license accepted at time of considerationBenefits
