Inova Fairfax Hospital's Main Tower PACU is currently seeking a compassionate and experienced OR RN or PreOp / PACU Nurse for a full-time position as an RN Perioperative Liaison role. The schedule for this role is Monday-Friday 7.00am-3.30pm. This position plays a vital role in bridging communication between patients, families, and the multidisciplinary care team, ensuring a seamless and supportive perioperative experience.
This dynamic perianesthesia care unit serves a diverse surgical population, including ENT, general, colorectal, neurosurgery, orthopedic, plastics, thoracic, transplant, and urology patients. We care for individuals across the lifespan-from pediatrics to geriatrics, including Level I trauma cases.
Perioperative Liaison Role Overview
The RN Perioperative Liaison is a key communicator and advocate, ensuring optimal patient outcomes through integrated care coordination. This role requires a nurse who excels in interpersonal communication, builds trust with families, and fosters strong partnerships with physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals.
The Liaison serves as a resource, mentor, and leader-providing guidance, education, and emotional support throughout the perioperative continuum. The ideal candidate will demonstrate clinical expertise, empathy, and a proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making
Perioperative Liaison Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a central point of contact for patients and families, providing timely updates, education, and emotional support before, during, and after surgery.
- Facilitate communication between surgical teams, nursing staff, and families to ensure clarity, continuity, and compassionate care.
- Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals to coordinate individualized care plans and anticipate patient needs.
- Conduct post-operative follow-up calls , documenting outcomes and communicating relevant information to the care team and leadership.
- Support safe transitions from the perioperative environment, ensuring discharge / admission criteria are met and patient / family expectations are addressed.
- Empower patients and families by providing clear information and guidance throughout the surgical experience.

One year of Preoperative and PACU and / or OR nursing experienceEducation - Bachelor's degree in nursing or Associate's degree. If RN has an Associate's degree, must complete BSN within 5 years of start dateRN License to practice in the Commonwealth of VirginiaBLS for Healthcare Provider certification via American Heart AssociationPreferred qualifications :
