We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Cost Accountant with a strong background in NetSuite and Cost Accounting to join our dynamic finance team. Role Summary :
The Sr. Cost Accountant ensures compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements while overseeing financial reporting, cost accounting, and system integrity within NetSuite. This role prepares and reviews complex journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements; analyzes cost variances, margins, and profitability; and supports budgeting, forecasting, and strategic decision-making. The Sr. Cost Accountant also drives process improvements, facilitates audits, and mentors junior staff, all while modeling OLS's core values of FORTITUDE and contributing to the overall success of the finance team.
Job Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Lead the preparation and review of complex journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements.
- Research and interpret accounting standards to address complex accounting issues and provide guidance to stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain cost accounting systems, processes, procedures, and policies.
- Analyze and report on cost variances, product margins, and profitability.
- Collaborate with operations and finance teams to support costing decisions and strategies.
- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to support management decision-making.
- Identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement, and communicate findings to key stakeholders.
- Assist in the preparation of financial forecasts, budgets, and strategic plans.
- Proactively identify areas for process improvement and implement solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Streamline accounting processes and procedures to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on NetSuite accounting software, leveraging advanced functionalities to optimize financial processes.
- Maintain the integrity of financial data within NetSuite and ensure proper system configuration and setup.
- Provide training and support to team members on NetSuite usage and best practices.
- Coordinate and facilitate internal and external audits, including the preparation of audit schedules and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and assist in their development and implementation.
- Respond to audit inquiries and address any findings or recommendations in a timely manner.

Minimum Job Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CMA certification preferred.Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with a focus on cost accounting.Extensive knowledge of GAAP and proficiency in interpreting and applying accounting standards.Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights.Experience working with NetSuite or similar ERP systems is required.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Proven track record of taking initiative, driving process improvements, and delivering results.Commitment to accuracy, attention to detail, and maintaining the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.Other Skills and Abilities
