POSITION SUMMARY
The Heavy Tech I will be responsible for performing vehicle maintenance, troubleshooting diesel and gasoline-power equipment and shop facility duties. Might travel to various shops and locations across the Los Angeles County area.
Pay Range : $22.00 - $24.00
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs automotive skill level I, performs vehicles Preventive Maintenance for Diesel and gasoline-powered equipment, troubleshoots electrical, ignition, fuel injection system, and charging system
- Performs inspection and repairs of exhaust system, air brake system; Inspect-repair suspension components : alignment, tires replacement
- Troubleshoot, repair, and replace hydraulic system : PTO, hoses, and hydraulic cylinders
- Perform quick-fixed maintenance, patch-repair and replace tires, install / replace windshield wipers and light bulbs
- Perform troubleshooting and repairs for Electric Vehicles (EV) and hybrid models
- Assist the Detail Technician with washing and polishing of customer's vehicles and remove decals when required
- Park, Jump-start, pick up and deliver County vehicles as needed to any vendor or County facility
- Perform fuel pump maintenance and repairs, check fuel levels and maintain up-to-date inventories
- Maintain daily vehicles accountability, parked location, lane, and vehicle status
- Picking up and delivering vehicles to County, Centerra Integrated facilities, and any vendors as required
- Road-testing vehicles on public streets and highways when required and to drive to any of the five shop locations
- Clean, sweep, mop, take out trash in working bays, and common work areas
- Ensure the safe handling and storage of chemicals and cleaners used in performing of daily work duties
- Abide by established safety standards to meet local safety policies and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Report to various regional locations as required
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Must have a valid Class C Driver’s License2 - 5 years’ experience in heavy diesel automotive knowledge requiredMust be able to maintain a safety-minded approach on all work performedProficiency with MS Office SuiteEffective oral and written communication skills with all levels of the organizationStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage time and multiple priorities to completionProblem solving skills with an analytical thought processASE T4 / Air brakes certified or be willing to obtain withing three months of employmentWilling to obtain the “Emergency Vehicle Technician Certification Commission” (EVTCC)Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment and work in any of the five shop facilitiesCalifornia Bar Smog License preferred, but not requiredBENEFITS

Work is typically based in one of five busy service maintenance garage environments, may require occasional on-the-road maintenance repairs. Frequent work outside and in inclement weather conditions is required, including heat, cold and humidity. May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. Must be willing to wear Personal Protective Equipment as required by established Company Safety Standards. Normal work hours are Monday-Friday 7 : 00 am to 4 : 00 pm, however some extended or weekend hours may also be required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
May be required to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 50 lbs. Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting, squatting, stretching and bending throughout the workday.
