The Classroom Technician, under the direction of the Interim Training Support, Special Education Teacher, Behavior Consultant or assigned designee, executes the written plans for students in the classroom and fosters relationships with all internal and external customers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Fully implements all assigned student plans and programs with fidelity across environments
- Accurately completes appropriate documentation requirements related to in-school services
- Provides support to clients through Activities of Daily Living (e.g. self-care routines and chores), lunch / feeding, and physical education activities
- Collects, documents, and / or enters data or other relevant information pertaining to student behavior, IEP goals, and prescribed programming
- Prepares instructional materials at the direction of the Teacher and / or Behavior Consultant and provides instructional support to students throughout the day both in the autism support environment as well as other inclusive environments
- Provides coaching to all team members in a supportive and collaborative manner, and receives and implements coaching from others to improve performance
- Conducts all interactions with staff, clients, and internal and external customers in positive, professional, and caring manner
- Supports student supervision duties such as recess, arrival, dismissal, etc.
- Provides substitute coverage in other classrooms within the program as needed
- Completes other duties as assigned
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The following positions or frequent movements are typical of the job : sitting, walking, running, standing, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, stooping, kneeling, and crawling, often for extended periods of the workday. Assignment may require the ability to physically move clients during possible physical interventions in order to maintain a safe learning environment.
The position requires that an individual be able to learn new tasks quickly and effectively. Job requirements may change frequently. The ability to understand and carry out detailed, involved, instructions is mandatory. The incumbent must be able to travel to multiple locations as needed, when needed to conduct organizational business. Subject to inside environmental conditions.
EXPECTED SCHEDULE
Full-time days and hours of the workweek are Monday through Friday as agreed upon by management, the classroom schedule, and the respective school district calendar. This position is also expected to attend a range of 5-10 professional development days annually. Dependent upon qualified student enrollments over Extended School Year, this position may be expected to work during the summer term.
