Accountant Position
You will serve as an Accountant in the Accounting Division, Comptroller Department, of FLEET READINESS CENTER SOUTHWEST. Responsibilities include providing professional accounting assistance to the general accounting section head, identifying new and revised system requirements and potential shortfalls in the existing accounting system, maintaining, auditing, analyzing, and reporting trends in and posting adjustments to a highly complex series of general ledger records, together with subsidiary ledgers and registers for accounting system, auditing, analyzing, and reporting trends in actual leave and fringe benefit cost data and accelerated labor data to ensure the acceleration rates for such benefits are appropriate, and accomplishing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
For GS-09 : In addition to the basic requirements for this Accountant GS-0510-09 position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized Accountant experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Examples of specialized experience include assisting with compiling, summarizing, and analyzing financial and / or budgetary information related to an organization's financial programs, identifying routine problem transactions, researching differences, and providing recommendations to correct erroneous transactions, assisting with planning, developing, and making presentations and standard operating procedures regarding financial matters, and reviewing and maintaining accounting records and financial reports to ensure they are accurate and support audit and financial requirements. Or you have successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree that is related to the Accountant position being filled. Or you have successfully completed two full years of progressively higher graduate level education leading to a master's degree that is related to the Accountant position being filled.
For GS-11 : In addition to the basic requirements for this Accountant GS-0510-11 position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized Accountant experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Examples of specialized experience include compiling, summarizing, and analyzing financial and / or budgetary information related to an organization's financial programs, identifying complex problem transactions, researching differences, and correcting erroneous transactions, planning, developing, and making presentations and standard operating procedures regarding complex financial matters, and reviewing and maintaining accounting records and financial reports to ensure they are accurate and support audit and financial requirements. Or you have successfully completed a Ph. D. or equivalent doctoral degree that is related to the Accountant position being filled. Or you have successfully completed three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph. D. or equivalent degree that is related to the Accountant position being filled.

OR You have a combination of education and experience : at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge. Your background also includes one of the following : (1) 24 semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality; or, (2) a certificate as Certified Public Accountant or a Certified Internal Auditor, obtained through written examination, or; (3) completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in accounting or auditing.
