Description :

The unit has 42 beds and employs 40 core staff members.

During the day shift, the unit typically has 1 charge nurse, 6-7 registered nurses, 3-4 certified nursing assistants, and 1-3 sitters.

The night shift has the same staffing structure.

Patient ratios are 6 : 1.

Equipment in use includes glucometers, vital machines, hoyer lifts, wound vacs, chest tubes, baxter pumps, epidural PCA, telemetry monitors, kangaroo pumps, BiPap devices, peg tubes, and blood warmers.

The electronic medical record system used is Meditech.

Candidates with 2 years of Med / Surg experience and ACLS certification are preferred.

Typical procedures performed on the unit include assisting with PICC line placements, managing chest tubes, providing wound care, and administering tube feedings.

Registered nurses will initiate IV access and infuse blood products, TPN, and Heparin.

The ideal personality fit is outgoing, works well with the team, and gives 110%.

Candidates must be willing to work 4 weekend shifts within a 4-week period.

There is no requirement for on-call duty.
