Generator Technician
Job Summary
The Generator Technician installs, commissions, repairs and services generators.
Job Functions
- Repairs and services generators
- Inspects, repairs, services, and starts up load bank test requirements on equipment
- Troubleshoots equipment and services generator components including alternators, wiring, switches, and batteries.
- Applies proper engine technical skills in inspection, disassembly, failure analysis, assembly, diagnosis, and engine operating
- Identifies the problem and cause of failure through logical troubleshooting steps, determines corrective action
- Repairs and troubleshoots engines
- Performs on site maintenance and repair to customers equipment
- Participates in the on call schedule by taking call periodically

The Generator Technician may be located at each branch and reports to the Service Manger, or General Manager where applicable. Hours are 8 AM to 5 PM, with OT as needed. Physical demands are moderate, to extreme at times, and typically require the following : 50% sitting, 25% walking and 25% standing, though standing for long periods may be more frequent with needs of task. Frequent lifting of supplies and material, carrying, pushing and / or pulling may be required. Must be able to work in a shop environment where central A / C and heating are not provided.
Frequent travel required.

Training
Generator Technician training is to be carried out at any branch location necessary . The General Manager is responsible for the Generator Technician's training. When possible the training will be directed by the Service Manager, conducted with the assistance of an incumbent Generator Technician as appropriate.
The following tasks shall be initially trained on the Generator Technician function :
Repairing and servicing generatorsInstalls / start upsTroubleshooting unitsConducting field service callsCompleting tickets / relevant paperworkTime sheets, leave request forms, credit card expense form, and other HR related formsThe Generator Technician shall be trained on the following software, as needed :
FSM if requiredQuickbooks as neededMS Office Programs as neededThe following PPE shall be required by the Generator Technician :
