Job Summary : The Department of University Police and Public Safety at SUNY Downstate is seeking a full-time University Police Officer 1. Officers enforce laws and the Student Code of Conduct on campus, with full police powers under Criminal Procedure Law. They assist other law enforcement agencies, investigate incidents, educate the community on safety, and participate in various law enforcement activities.

Responsibilities include :

• Patrol assigned areas to deter crime and detect hazards.
• Respond to calls, assist in investigations, and testify in court.
• Regulate traffic and enforce vehicle laws.
• Manage crowd control during events.
• Serve as Desk Officer and on the K-9 Corps as assigned.
• Complete reports and participate in training and community programs.

Minimum Qualifications : Various pathways including military service, police training, or college credits, with specific experience and certification requirements as detailed in the original description.
