Physical Therapist Assistant
Location : Santa Fe Indian Health Center & Satellite Clinics, NM
Schedule : MondayFriday, 8 : 00 AM 4 : 30 PM
Position Overview
The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) will work under the direct clinical supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to assist in delivering rehabilitative services to patients. The PTA will support treatments, exercise programs, patient education, and documentation while maintaining a safe, sanitary, and culturally respectful clinical environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist the PT in administering therapeutic exercises, modalities, and rehabilitative techniques
- Support patient evaluations and treatment activities under PT supervision
- Monitor and document patient response to treatment and report changes to the supervising PT
- Guide patients in activities of daily living, ambulation, and exercise programs
- Maintain accurate clinical notes and treatment documentation
- Assist in maintaining therapy facilities and equipment sanitation
- Contribute to patient and caregiver education regarding therapy programs
- Participate in scheduled trainings and facility orientation
- Demonstrate professionalism and cultural respect when working with Native American communities
Required Qualifications
Current certification / license as a Physical Therapist Assistant in a U.S. jurisdictionKnowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and physical therapy care techniquesCurrent BLS certificationAbility to successfully complete federal background screening and credentialing processesRequired immunizations and TB screeningExperience supporting outpatient therapy carePreferred Qualifications
Prior experience working in tribal healthcare or rural communitiesFamiliarity with electronic health record systems
