Description
The Quantitative Equity Research team at Columbia Threadneedle Investments is looking to add a full-time Associate Quantitative Equity Analyst to our close-knit, collaborative team of six. The team develops and maintains a comprehensive suite of stock selection models that generate insights for both systematic and fundamental investment strategies. The role involves researching stock selection signals, developing alpha models, and optimizing portfolio construction methodologies. The analyst will conduct data-driven analyses, enhance the team's research and analytics platforms, and share responsibility for implementing and maintaining quantitative models. This position offers comprehensive exposure to quantitative finance while providing opportunities to make meaningful contributions to the team's success. The analyst will collaborate with fundamental research analysts and portfolio managers across the organization to exchange ideas, communicate insights, and expand their expertise across various investment strategies.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to research projects through idea generation, data preparation, statistical analysis, and development of actionable recommendations
- Evaluate innovative techniques to extract tradable signals from large datasets
- Research and develop advanced model construction methodologies
- Enhance the team’s research infrastructure, production systems, and analytics capabilities
- Present research findings to key stakeholders and develop thought leadership content
- Monitor and analyze factor and model performance, and provide regular insights within the firm
- Validate model output and address inquiries from investment teams
- Collaborate closely with investment teams, data science, and technology partners to support research initiatives and model implementation
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, finance, economics, or related field
- 1-3 years of experience in quantitative analysis, financial modeling, or related analytical role
- Advanced analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills
- Strong programming skills with proficiency in Python, R, SQL, or similar data analysis languages
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts effectively
- Demonstrated intellectual curiosity and passion for financial markets
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness and a cooperative can-do attitude
- CFA designation or progress toward CFA preferred
Base Pay Salary
The estimated base salary for this role is $98,130- $134,930 / year. We have a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy. Your initial total compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographical work location. In addition, most of our roles are eligible for variable pay in the form of bonus, commissions, and/or long-term incentives depending on the role.
