Job Title : Environmental Engineer Project Manager - Water / Wastewater

Salary : $120,000 - $160,000+ per year

Location : Iowa

We are looking for an experienced Environmental Engineer with a focus on water and wastewater systems to join our team. This role is critical to ensuring sustainable and compliant water resource management, infrastructure planning, and environmental protection within the municipality.

Key Responsibilities :

  • System Design and Development : Design, develop, and oversee water and wastewater treatment systems, pipelines, and other infrastructure to ensure efficient, sustainable operations.
  • Compliance and Environmental Regulations : Monitor and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental laws, including the Clean Water Act and Safe Drinking Water Act. Conduct environmental impact assessments.
  • Data Collection and Analysis : Conduct field studies, sampling, and testing of water and wastewater systems to assess quality, treatment effectiveness, and environmental impact.
  • Project Management : Lead water and wastewater projects from planning through implementation, managing budgets, timelines, and stakeholder communication.
  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation : Analyze risks and implement mitigation strategies for potential environmental hazards or operational failures.
  • Technical Reporting and Documentation : Prepare detailed reports, technical documentation, and proposals for internal use and regulatory submission.

Key Skills and Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in water / wastewater engineering, with knowledge of treatment processes, regulations, and infrastructure management.
  • Proficiency in Key Software : AutoCAD and Civil 3D, WaterCAD / WaterGEMS, SWMM (Storm Water Management Model) and HydroCAD, ArcGIS, MATLAB.
  • Strong understanding of water chemistry, hydraulics, and treatment plant operations.
  • Excellent analytical, project management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication for technical reporting and stakeholder collaboration.
