General Purpose

Launch your career in Public Works and j oin our dedicated team as a Streets Operations Technician- with this hands-on, entry-level opportunity, you'll help maintain and improve the infrastructure that keeps our city moving. The Streets Operations Technician performs semi-skilled tasks related to the maintenance and repair of various infrastructure, including streets, multi-use paths, sidewalks, bridges, roadsides, drainage systems, and signage. As an entry-level position, the incumbents receive training to develop skills and proficiency in all duties required of a journey level position.

Hiring salary is dependent upon experience. Hiring Range $23.27 - $25.86 hourly.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent required; some municipal maintenance experience preferred. Must possess a valid Colorado driver's license. Must obtain a Commercial Driver's License Class "B" within three months of date of hire and maintain during the course of employment. Flagger certification is required within one year of hire and must be maintained during the course of employment. Other applicable certifications may be required at City expense. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.

The employee must have successfully completed their 6-month Introductory Period for eligibility.
  • Recreation Center Membership : Employees and family members are eligible for a membership to the Commerce City Recreation Center for $5.00 per person per year.
  • Golf Course Green Fees : Employees can play the City's award-winning Buffalo Run Golf Course at a rate of $9.00 for 9-holes or $18.00 for 18-holes. Employees can also purchase golf merchandise at discounted prices.
