SUMMARY / SCOPE :
Program Director of the undergraduateand graduate programs in Speech-Language Pathology is a full-time, 12-monthadministrative faculty appointment with teaching responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : These examples do notinclude all possible tasks & do not limit the assignment of related tasks.
Leadership and supervision ofthe undergraduate program in Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) and thegraduate program in Speech-Language and Pathology (SLP), including meeting allaccreditation requirements of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association(ASHA).
Recruit, hire, mentor, manage,and evaluate faculty members (full-time and / or adjunct) to meet accreditationrequirements for teaching in the undergraduate and graduate programs. The SLPstandard 2.3 states : "The program must demonstrate that the majority ofacademic content is taught by doctoral faculty who hold the appropriateterminal academic degree (PhD, EdD)."
Working with the Director ofClinical Education to obtain clinical practice settings and / or assisting withstudent supervision in the clinic.
Direct the professional CSD andSLP programs in all its phases, including approval of teaching staff,selection of appropriate clinical sites, admission, progression, probation,dismissal of students, and enforcement of student policies.
Additional responsibilitiesinclude, but are not limited to :
Providing evidence of facultyexpertise and knowledge to teach curriculum content.
Verifying students' completionof program requirements.
Bear overall responsibility forthe CSD & SLP education programs, including budgeting, faculty and staffdevelopment, assessment, ongoing curriculum development and revision, studentrecruitment, and meeting the accreditation requirements of ASHA and theSouthern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACSCOC) as it applies to CSD& SLP education.
Maintaincommunication with the Dean and other University Administrative officials.
Completion ofall College or Graduate School required documents including the 5-year AnnualReport and the Annual Assessment of Learning Outcomes (ALOC) reports.
Guide and mentor students.
Guide long and short-termstrategic planning by providing a vision for the departments.
Guide development andmaintenance of departmental policies and procedures.
Provide leadership tothe department in scholarly and research efforts.
Promote and supportfaculty professional development.
Promote departmentalinvolvement and communication within the college, university and community.
Support collaborativeand interdisciplinary experiences for faculty and students.
Provide service to theUniversity and community including active participation on various Universityand College Committees.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES (Language, Mathematical, Reasoning and Computer Skills) :
LANGUAGE SKILLS : Ability to read, analyze, and interpretgeneral business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, orgovernmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence,and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respondto questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the generalpublic.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE :
The Program Directormust meet the ASHA's minimum qualifications for a program director asarticulated in Section 1.7 : "The individual designated as program directorholds a graduate degree with a major emphasis in speech-language pathology, in audiology,or in speech, language, and hearing science."
Must hold an unencumberedcurrent license or privilege to practice as a registered SLP in the state of Texas.
A doctoral degree is highlypreferred in a related field.
Two (2) or more years of teachingexperience in a professional CSD or SLP education program is highly recommendedand preferred.
Must have demonstratedknowledge, skills, and abilities in administration within a professionaleducation program.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS :
Must hold a current andunencumbered license or eligibility for licensure to practice as a licensed SLPor Audiologist in the State of Texas.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION :
This position is a Full-Time,Exempt Level Faculty Position with a limited teaching load at theHardin-Simmons University campus. Must be willing to relocate to Abilene,Texas, or the surrounding area to teach in-person classes on the HSU campus.
Aminimum of a 40-hour work week is expected and possibly more during peakperiods of the academic year. Infrequent work on evenings or Saturdays, whenneeded.
Must have and maintain a validClass C Driver's License and maintain a clear driving record to be insurableunder the university liability policy.
Must be able to drive tocomplete work assignments on and off campus, as needed.
Occasional travel may berequired.
