Overview :
Prep Cooks are key members of Fjord’s kitchen team, responsible for preparing ingredients, supporting daily food production, and ensuring the kitchen runs smoothly. Prep Cooks help set the stage for high-quality, made-to-order meals by maintaining organization, consistency, and food safety standards.
This is a hands-on, fast-paced role that requires strong attention to detail, teamwork, and a commitment to cleanliness and efficiency.
Core Responsibilities :
- Prepare and portion ingredients according to Fjord recipes and prep lists
- Wash, peel, chop, and store produce, seafood, and other ingredients as needed
- Label, date, and organize prepped items to ensure freshness and minimize waste
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked prep station throughout each shift
- Assist Line Cooks and kitchen team with food production and plating during service
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and allergen protocols
- Support end-of-shift cleaning, breakdown, and restocking procedures
- Communicate with kitchen leadership about prep needs, shortages, or quality concerns
Qualifications / Requirements :
1+ years of experience in a kitchen or prep role preferredAbility to follow recipes, prep lists, and instructions with consistencyComfortable using standard kitchen equipment and tools (knives, slicers, mixers)Strong multitasking and time management skillsComfortable standing for long periods and lifting up to 50 lbsDependable, punctual, and team-orientedFood handler’s certification preferred or willingness to obtain within 30 daysPerformance Expectations :
Completes all prep tasks accurately, efficiently, and on timeMaintains cleanliness and food safety standards throughout each shiftDemonstrates consistency in ingredient preparation and portioningCommunicates effectively with teammates and kitchen leadershipSupports kitchen operations during peak periods and adapts to changing prioritiesGrowth Path :
