HVAC Technician

Overview :
Reliance One is hiring an HVAC Technician for one of our clients in Flint, Michigan. This position starts on a 6-month contract with the opportunity to transition to direct hire. The HVAC Technician will perform skilled work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems while ensuring compliance with applicable codes and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities :
- Perform skilled installation, alteration, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems in accordance with plans, specifications, and building codes.
- Fabricate, install, test, and balance climate control and heat transfer assemblies and systems.
- Assist in preparing specifications for proposed systems and determining required performance levels.
- Fabricate non-standard parts and assemblies using metalworking machinery, hand tools, and power tools.
- Install test fixtures, apparatus, and controls; conduct operational tests under specified conditions.
- Install and repair refrigeration systems according to plans and codes, using knowledge of refrigeration and system design.
- Repair and alter compressors, condensers, pipes, pumps, and related equipment.
- Perform emergency repairs and adjustments; maintain records of service and repairs.
- Utilize new technologies and process improvements related to the role.
- Work collaboratively with other trades and departments to complete projects efficiently.
Minimum Requirements :
High school diploma or GED equivalent.Journeyman-level plumber or pipe fitter with documented training in HVAC systems or four (4) years of experience in building trades, maintenance, or industrial HVAC repair with completion of an approved program in Air Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration.Strong knowledge of HVAC hazards, safety precautions, and warm air / hydronics heating codes.Skilled in troubleshooting HVAC and refrigeration systems.Manual dexterity with the ability to use various hand and power tools.Ability to interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical documents.Physically able to stand, stoop, climb ladders, and work in varying temperature conditions.Strong teamwork, communication, and customer service skills.Special Qualifications :
Must possess an EPA-approved certification for refrigeration handling.Must obtain a valid Warm Air or Hydronics Heating License within two (2) years of appointment to this classification.Failure to obtain this license within the timeframe will result in termination of employment.Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) Statement
