Job Summary
- This position requires independent judgment in evaluation, selection, and adaptation / modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria, and must be able to independently solve problems and make decisions.
- Supervision and guidance mainly concern overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters. Problems faced are difficult and often complex.
- Provides professional engineering consultation in the planning, design, and coordination of large complex projects, often requiring the development of new or improved techniques and procedures and independently applying advanced engineering concepts and designs.
- Develops and evaluates engineering reports, plans and specification criteria for a variety of projects, engineering design and facility development, design detailing, code and criteria analysis, construction document production, and construction administration.
- Coordinates with a diversified project team, including development of client communication, proposal coordination, marketing, presentations, and management of other discipline-related activities.
- Prepares specifications, scaled drawings and proposals. Ensures finished plans, specifications, and approval of materials and construction.
- Meets with clients to determine objectives and requirements for executing desired scope.
- Reviews junior staff's work for technical accuracy and provides technical guidance to other professionals and technicians. May also lead a discipline team or small multidisciplinary teams to complete projects.
- Performs quality control reviews and ensures achievement of key milestones. Performs as-needed field reviews and observations of ongoing construction projects to maintain and increase understanding of construction practices and design applications.
- Maintains professional registration and licensure by ensuring conformance with professional, ethical, educational, and discipline practice requirements. Remains knowledgeable of all applicable federal, state, and local codes, criteria, regulations, and ordinances that are pertinent to respective discipline.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.Current holder of a PE license in good standing.7+ years of previous MEP design experience, including work on major or multiple moderate-sized projects and proven experience providing technical guidance to entry / junior staff and reviewing others' work for technical accuracy.Working knowledge of FBC, IBC, ASHRAE, and other NFPA codes.Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).Excellent communication and interpersonal relationship skills.Demonstrated capability in leadership of design teams.Experience with managing staff.Experience working on building and site design.Ability and willingness to travel in the U.S. and internationally.Experience with Revit.Preferred Qualifications
Ability to participate in business development, marketing, and client coordination.Desire to obtain and maintain engineering licensure in multiple states.NCEES certification.An Equal Opportunity Employer.
