This is a full-time inpatient pediatrician role, focusing on providing care to newborns and pediatric patients admitted
SCHEDULE :
- 8 hours in-house per day (8 : 30 AM - 4 : 30 PM)
- 24 / 7 coverage with 16 hours of on-call responsibilities
- Typical census : 8-15 newborns per day and 0-2 pediatric patients per day
- Call responsibilities include : Nurse phone consultations, potential admissions from the ED, and attending high-risk deliveries or stabilizing sick newborns (calls come from nurses and / or ER doctors NOT from parents)
- Approximately 1,600 deliveries annually, expected to grow to 1,800-2,000 due to the expansion of the Women s Health department.
- Cerner EMR.
- 1 full time hospitalist.
- 1 part time hospitalist that helps cover weekends, holidays, and PTO. Also provides additional support on high census days if needed.
- 1 part time APRN on W, TH, F (morning only).
- Typical Census : 8-15 newborns per day / 0-2 pediatric patients per day.
- 90% of inpatient duties involve managing newborns, including nursery coverage.
- 10% of duties involve managing straightforward pediatric admissions such as basic ENT cases.
- No complex subspecialty care or PICU-level cases.
- Procedures Include : Circumcisions, emergency CPAP management, frenotomies, and excision of simple polydactyly. Rare emergency procedures such as intubation, needle decompression of pneumothorax, and UVC placement.
