ABOUT WMAES:

Wonder what it would be like to go snowshoeing through a maple forest? Or what it may be like to cook fresh homemade pizza in a mud oven? Students at WMAES don't wonder they know! We give our students 62-acres of an outdoor classroom to expand their love of learning. Working gardens, nature trails, forests, wetlands and prairies are all available for students to explore. WMAES students transition from desks to dirt, creating an environment for all students to learn.

JOB GOAL
Provide guidance and advocacy to students to ensure they meet academic and behavioral requirements to move to the next grade level, provide safety and security for all students and families.

ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Have the ability to de-escalate students who are in crisis.
• Assist with communicating consistent classroom management processes and procedures in alignment with the teachers and school expectations.
• Communicates accurately and timely with students and their families to ensure a continuous school-family partnership exists.
• Linking students and their families to school and community resources
• Evaluate student progress including attendance, academic, and behavioral data.
• Coordinate with community partners to build resources.
• Use restorative justice process to focus on repairing harm through inclusive processes that engage all stakeholders-shifting the focus of discipline from punishment to learning from the individual to the community.
• Makes home visits to obtain information about students.
• Keep accurate and timely records of student information in Powerschool, parent, staff, and community contacts.
• Participate in stakeholder conferences to develop student action plans.
• Assist with the supervision of students during instructional and non-instructional time.
• Maintain confidentiality when dealing with students, families, staff, and community members.
• Facilitate social and emotional growth with students.
• Supports students struggling with homelessness with community resources.

QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

• Bachelor's degree
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with school personnel and students in a diverse school community.
• Solid record of punctuality.
• Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
• Knowledge and skills working with At-Risk students.
• PBIS experience and/or CPI training preferred.
