As a User Research Specialist, you will be an integral part of the Human Centered Design team within the Windows and Devices Design and Research department. Pay Range : $45 / hour
Responsibilities :
Mixed-Methods Research : Bring your own unique perspective and collaborate with the team to develop and execute research activities in support of understanding human perception, user needs, and other critical questions informing product design and engineering directions. Support a wide range of study types, including needs assessment, anthropometry, and usability studies, applicable to all product phases from conceptual to validation.
In-Lab and In-Field : Support research projects in internal laboratory settings as well as the potential for in-field studies involving commercial front-line workers, government agencies, consumers, and other audiences.
Synthesize Data into Insight : Summarize results from varied data sources including perceptual, survey, and qualitative user data, using both qualitative and quantitative analysis methods on large and small datasets.
Communicate Results : Write reports, summary presentations, and document research / study findings. Use internal reporting tools, or other platforms, to present clear and actionable results to a broad audience.
Ethical Research : Understand and comply with user privacy policies and research ethics involving human subjects.
Qualifications :
Ability to identify and employ appropriate research methods (quantitative and qualitative), prototypes (at various levels of functionality), and tools (lab instruments, surveys, and assessment)
Experience performing quantitative and qualitative analysis, detecting patterns in data, and summarizing data for stakeholders and their teams
Experience with one or more of the following data analysis packages : MATLAB, R, Excel, and Python.
2+ years of industry experience conducting primary user research with exposure to methods such as interviews, contextual inquiry, usability testing, survey design, A / B testing, and card sorting
Strongly preferred : Master’s degree in Cognitive Science / Psychology, Experimental Psychology, Human Factors, Industrial Engineering, Human-Computer Interaction, Engineering Psychology, Human-Centered Design, or related fields.
