Dod Financial Reporting Sme
BizFirst is seeking a DoD Financial Reporting Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support a Department of Defense (DoD) customer with high-level financial reporting and policy compliance efforts. This role centers on applying and advising on DoD financial standards, particularly USSGL, SFIS, Tie Points, and Posting Logic, to ensure accurate, audit-ready financial reporting and system alignment with federal accounting policies.
The ideal candidate will have deep experience navigating DoD financial systems and frameworks, and the ability to bridge policy requirements with data reporting practices across the enterprise.
Key Responsibilities :
- Serve as a primary SME on DoD financial data standards and reporting, supporting both financial leadership and technical teams
- Interpret and apply USSGL, SFIS, Tie Point, and Posting Logic standards to ensure consistent, compliant reporting across financial systems
- Advise on the mapping of accounting data to federal reporting requirements and audit standards
- Analyze financial transactions for accuracy and alignment with DoD financial policy
- Support system and data validation efforts to ensure correct implementation of posting logic and tie points
- Develop and review financial reports, reconciliations, and documentation to support internal controls and audit readiness
- Liaise with stakeholders to translate policy guidance into actionable data / reporting requirements
- Provide input on system enhancements, testing, and implementation strategies for financial compliance initiatives
Required Qualifications :
Extensive experience in DoD financial reporting and complianceStrong expertise in USSGL (U.S. Standard General Ledger), SFIS (Standard Financial Information Structure), Tie Points and reconciliation logic, and Posting Logic for journal entry transactionsDeep understanding of DoD financial management regulations, policy, and audit requirementsExperience supporting federal financial system design, reporting, or internal control activitiesExcellent communication and documentation skills for both technical and policy audiencesPreferred Qualifications :
Experience supporting the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) or other major DoD componentsCPA, CGFM, or CDFM certification preferredFamiliarity with enterprise resource planning (ERP) or financial systems such as DAI, DEAMS, GFEBS, DCAS, or similarBenefits Include :
