Experience in Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP)

Ability to circulate in the operating room

Experience with titrating drips, including Pitocin and Insulin

Description :

This position requires a registered nurse specializing in Labor and Delivery.

Candidates must have at least 3 years of experience in a similar setting.

The unit provides care for a range of patients, including those with preeclampsia, previa, twins, and diabetic conditions.

There are 16 Labor and Delivery beds and 13 Antepartum beds available.

Three operating room suites are designated for C-sections.

This unit handles around 4194 deliveries annually, averaging 320 to 400 per month.

The nursing team adheres to AWHONN guidelines for patient-to-nurse ratios.

RNs will work with various titratable and set rate drips, primarily Pitocin.

The unit is staffed with a charge nurse who does not take patient assignments unless absolutely necessary.

Surgical techs are present every shift to assist.

An obstetric laborist is available 24 / 7.

Neonatology service is also present around the clock.

Anesthesia services are maintained 24 / 7 by designated CRNAs.

Respiratory equipment is available for troubleshooting and initial resuscitation until NICU staff arrives.

There are no telemetry technicians on the unit, so RNs will interpret their own cardiac strips.

Shifts typically last from 7 PM to 7 AM, with the potential for weekend work as needed.

Traveling nurses may be required to float to other units as necessary.

Scrubs are provided for staff.

Unit-specific orientation includes one shift in Labor and Delivery, Antepartum, and the Labor and Delivery operating room.

Charting is done using an electronic medical records system.

A Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing is required for this position.

Candidates must hold a valid nursing license.

This is an acute care setting.
