Summary of Job Purpose
Lift Operations is a team-oriented department focused on providing our guests with excellent customer service on the mountain. The Lift Operations Assistant Manager will assist the Lift Operations Manager in the supervision of all Lift Operators and the daily operations of the department. You will be expected to run and maintain the Lift operations department when the manager has days off. Lift Operators maintain lift stations, assist guests onto carriers. Lift operators are hosts and information centers.

Determine which tasks are most urgent and important. Set priories and complete tasks in a . timely manner.Accurately assess how much time each task will require. Forsee problems and opportunities.Factor in potential delays and interruptions.Prioritize high-impact tasks by scheduling them during your most productive and available hours.Be prepared to adjust the schedule as needed.Utilize resources and delegate tasks to employees capable of handling tasks.Oversee mountain / lift hill safety procedures under the direction of the Lift Operations Manager. Enforcement of stated safety rules.Requires knowledge that all lifts and the mountain are operational and that the operating personnel are equipped and fit to perform their duties.Team building and employee retention :Interviewing, hiring and termination of employees.
Employee performance evaluation and documentation.Assist with on-going training. This includes preparation of employees for inspections and interviews from State, USFS and Insurance Company.Documentation of personnel files : training, binding and equipment checks, skiing / snowboarding / riding ability, etc...Daily employee appearance inspections.Employee counseling.Follow ANSI code B77.12022 section 4.3.2.3.1, which describes the duties of a supervisorMay oversee the operation of any designated lift station. These duties include but are not limited to :Assume the role and responsibility as Lead operator when needed.
Provide lunch, bathroom and ski / ride breaks for lift operator.Maintain loading and unloading ramps and platforms.Assist the Lift Maintenance department under their direction and training.Accident investigations. Knowledge and ability to conduct "Code Four" investigations.Documentation of training and safety meetings. Occasionally leads safety meetings.Under the direction of the manager this position may assist in the following functions :Prepare and maintain accurate daily / weekly schedules. Communicate information to employees via schedule board and emails.
Assist in the daily supervision, support and training of department staff. Includes planning, preparing, delivering, documenting and filing all training on lift operators. Maintain any appropriate records as set forth by company policy and procedures.Documentation of safety meetings. Occasionally lead safety meetings.Review daily, all lift logs and lift incident report forms for accuracy and completeness and report any problems to the manager.Support department payroll. This includes reviewing timesheets daily, ensuring proper timekeeping documentation is collected and assisting in resolving issues in a timely manner. Coordinate with HR / Payroll regularly.Maintaining accurate records concerning overall inventory of all operating supplies.Revisions and additions to departmental manuals and guidelines kept updated.Assist with uniform disbursement, inventory and accountability.Demonstrate an on-going commitment to delivering excellent customer service. This involves interacting with guests and other departments in a courteous manner and ability to answer questions professionally.Working knowledge of the emergency plan and ability to make decisions according to the plan.Maintain clean, safe and professional workstations. Assist with maintaining good housekeeping within the locker room area.Recognize, report and / or correct any safety hazards within the lift operations department.Assist in resort wide snow removal by shoveling or snow blowing snow, sometimes heavy wet snow. (Completion of snowblower training required). Heavy and awkward lifting of items up to 50 lbs., up to 100 lbs. with assistance. Walking and working on uneven ground, deep powder, icy and wet surfaces.Proper use / care of tools and equipment to maximize company profitability and productivity.Knowledge and ability to lead an unseated passenger scenario by following the unseated passenger plan.Actively and efficiently assist with maze control. Maintain orderly passenger traffic conditions within all areas.Maintain the ticket gates / tablets for accuracy, while remaining professional and courteous.Communicate problems to superiors, while showing initiative in handling routine and emergency situations. Communicate with other departments in a courteous and professional manner.Provide timely and accurate information concerning weather conditions, grooming or slope conditions,Communicate problems to department manager and / or other superiors, while showing initiative in handling routine and emergency matters.Follow a professional overall appearance, be neatly groomed, setting an example of the dress code standards of the department and maintain personal ski / snowboard equipment in good condition.Continuously maintain the condition of lift signage, mazes and loading / unloading areas. Ensure that the A.N.S.I. required signage is in place prior to operation.Ensure that any information regarding lost (B.O.L.O.) or injured skier / snowboarder reported directly to you gets passed on to the appropriate personnel quickly. This type of situation takes precedence over all other duties.Knowledge of resort area, terrain and facilities. Keep updated on current events at Dodge Ridge.Performs other related duties as assigned.Job Qualifications
Lift operations experience. Completion of the lift operators training program and understanding of the Dodge Ridge Customer Service policy.Management skills : Experience in supervising a large number of employees, while remaining calm and courteous. Effective and efficient leadership skills.Financial skills.Good organizational skills.Ability to read and to write legibly and to use good composition skills to complete records and report forms.Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment. Must include Excel and skills in database management and record keeping.Proficient mathematical skills. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages.Ability to reason and solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.Positive attitude and enthusiasm.Advanced skiing or snowboarding ability required.Ability to learn and be knowledgeable of the needs of the equipment and standard procedures for its care and safe operation.Safe operation of a snowmobile in a variety of terrain and snow conditions.Must be well groomed and present a good public image.Good physical condition as this position requires skiing / boarding, hiking, shoveling, lifting and carrying.Willingness to work during extreme weather conditions.Good manual and physical dexterity skills.Ability to maintain control over the lift operations department especially during peak periods.Responsible use and care of radio equipment.Safety and risk oriented. Ability to remain situationally aware while performing assigned duties.Requires the skills of a host. This involves approaching guests in a courteous manner, inquiring if they have any questions and being able to respond professionally.Being helpful in educating lift operations staff and guests about the Skier's Responsibility Code.Safety will always be a top priority of the Dodge Ridge Lift Operations Department. An effective assistant manager is constantly assessing the mountain for safety issues or concerns.Must possess a valid driver's license and meet the Motor Vehicle Record qualifications as outlined in the Fleet Safety Program if tasked with driving duties.Job Attitudes

Weather conditions and the number of guests play a large role in the work scheduling of Dodge Ridge employees.
When conditions are normal, you may be expected to work 40 up to 48 hours per week, including weekends and holidays. During busy periods, you may be expected to work six (6) days a week.
You must arrange for transportationto work so that you arrive at your designated workstation at the scheduled time. Keep in mind that you will often be required to drive on hilly, snow packed, and icy road surfaces.
Working Conditions
At any time duringthe ski season, Dodge Ridge employees are often required to perform their tasks in high winds, heavy snowfalls, low visibility, rain, and extremely cold or warm temperatures.
Work is typically outside working directly with resort guests and other resort staff members. It can be noisy, cold, wet, or humid. You may be expected to work in high places and frequently you will work around moving objects. At times you may be inside your lift shack.
Uniforms
To project a professional appearance at Dodge Ridge, your department requires a uniform be worn, including a nametag. Please wear both at all times during your scheduled shift.
We will provide most of the uniform for you to do your job. However, you will be required to provide some items as part of your job, as listed below. (We strongly encourage you to contact your supervisor for a description of the quality, color, and style of the items you are required to provide before you purchase them.
