Overview

Xavier University invites applications for a Visiting Faculty in the School of Education for the 2025-2026 academic year. The position involves numerous responsibilities for the Reading / TESOL Programs and reports to the program director. The purpose of this position is to teach a variety of courses in Reading and / or TESOL. In addition, the candidate will support these programs by providing needed service such as maintaining records of students including academic advising, responsible for oversight and student disposition process in field placements in collaboration with the Field Coordinator, maintain and develop relationships with area schools, maintain state accreditation information, and assist with enrollment and recruitment. The position is renewable annually for up to three years, pending continued need. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Responsibilities

• Teaching a variety of courses within the READING / TESOL undergraduate and graduate programs
• Recruiting potential new undergraduate and graduate students for endorsement and master's degrees programs. The position involves learning a database system for maintaining student records and using this system to guide and support students throughout their programs and for retention in the programs.
• Collaborating with the Field Coordinator for field experiences for students that may include the preparation of documentation for host schools and supervisors.
• Maintaining and developing relationships with area schools including public and private for the Reading / TESOL programs.
• Maintaining student records and data, assuring that students are meeting program requirements and supporting national and state accreditation.
• Reviewing and communicating with program director and administrative staff to ensure all requirements are complete for students in these programs.
• Acting as liaison with schools to assist in recruiting and maintaining endorsement programs.
