Services include but are not limited to non-destructive testing such as fluorescent penetrant and magnetic particle inspection and a wide variety of surface enhancement processes such as shot peening and abrasive blasting passivation cadmium and nickel zinc plating chromic sulfuric and boric sulfuric acid anodizing and the application of chromate conversion coating on ferrous and non-ferrous alloys. Organic coating includes the application and testing of multiple resin systems such as epoxies phenolics polyurethanes polyesters elastomerics intumescents lacquers alkyds acrylics dry-film lubricants and Teflon. Founded in 1976 Protective Coatings Inc. was later acquired by Precision Castparts in 2012 and became part of the Aerostructures Division.
Position Summary :
Level 4 candidates shall be experienced in the spray application of multiple functional and decorative aerospace primers and topcoats on a variety of substrates and on simple to complex product configurations (geometries). Experience should extend to the application of spatter finish textures dry-film lubricants conductive coatings intumescents and Teflon finish systems using conventional HVLP equipment in pressure siphon and gravity fed variants. Additionally these operators should be familiar with the setup and application of primers using conventional and airless ID equipment for coating the internal surfaces of structural tubing. Level 4 candidates must be adept at hand shooting and stenciling operations and must possess analytical skills for problem solving and trouble shooting. These operators will be expected to maintain terminal equipment in good working order throughout the production cycle. Level 4 candidates will be expected to control wet / dry film coating thicknesses IAW noted prescribed requirements. These individuals will typically be cross qualified in relevant support functions such as racking turning and sanding operations as well as equipment maintenance and paint mixing operations.
