Responsibilities

  • Develops, modifies, applies, and maintains quality evaluation, control systems and protocols.

  • Plans, implements and coordinates activities concerned with development, application and improvement of quality standards for production processes, materials, products and parts.

  • Leads and participates in the development and maintenance of quality initiatives or projects essential to successful operations.

  • Conducts internal audits on departments and business units to ensure compliance with company instructions and policies. Assists external auditors from various quality associations.

  • Accountable for leadership, decision making, and oversight of the quality systems, including CPAP (Corrective and Preventive Action) system.

  • Investigates, analyzes and reports on quality concerns and makes recommendations for corrective actions for nonconformities and identified risk for internally produced products & processes.

  • Utilizes UPPAP core elements (. PFMEA, MSA, Process Flow and Control Plans, to identify and make recommendations for managing risk in product development. Develops and initiates quality measure of performance standards and methods for inspection, testing and evaluation using statistical techniques, including statistical process control (SPC), design of experiments (DOE), etc.

  • Coordinates operations/quality assurance reporting and interactions regarding product quality.

  • Researches quality methodology and solves quality problems with other engineering staff.

  • Assists training department with the development and presentation of training sessions on quality activities in areas such as measurement methodology, statistical process control and test fixture operations.

  • Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting immediately any unsafe practices/conditions.

  • Carries out special projects as assigned.

  • Coordinates with Engineering on review of original equipment manufacturer technical repair requirements and the effectiveness of process implementation including revision maintenance.

  • Identify, analyze, and lead continuous improvement projects using methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality.

Basic Qualifications

  • Must be authorized to work in the US without Sponsorship

  • Thorough knowledge of company instruction, company process, quality and original equipment manufacturer manuals.

  • Degree in mechanical, industrial or aerospace engineering; or equivalent preferred and

  • Several years of experience in a manufacturing or aerospace environment.

  • Three to six years’ experience required

Desired Qualifications

  • Thorough knowledge of FAA airworthiness certification requirements and other regulatory bodies.

  • Proficient in selection and application of statistical techniques and application of problem-solving techniques

  • Working knowledge of precision measuring instruments.

  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret blueprints.

  • Strong planning, organizational, analytical, leadership, interpersonal, decision making, oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong project management skills.

Background Information

The typical minimum level of education to perform this job competently is equivalent to completion of a university (bachelor) program in a specialized field of study and work.The work requires a sound understanding of the underlying theoretical principles and concepts associated with the subject area and an understanding of the relation of these to the responsibilities of the job.This specialized training is often recognized by a degree and/or professional designation. Directly/indirectly related work experience representing continuous learning and required for someone to perform this job competently is three to six years.

Ongoing work assignments typically have clearly defined goals, but no (or minimal) direction with respect to what action steps to follow.The incumbent's education, training, and previous experience will help ensure that the goal of the assignment can be clearly defined and understood (even if that means just knowing what relevant questions to ask), but the required/optional approaches to achieving the goal will often remain unclear, undefined and/or untested until the work assignment is well underway.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
