Assistant Project Manager – Residential Development (Affordable Housing Projects)

Location : New York City – 5 Boroughs

Salary : $75,000 – $110,000 (commensurate with experience)

Position Overview :

The Assistant Project Manager (APM) will support the Project Management team across all phases of development and construction — from preconstruction through closeout. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and eager to grow within a reputable organization that values collaboration, professional development, and community-focused work.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Assist the Project Manager with day-to-day coordination and administration of active construction and renovation projects.
  • Support with budget tracking, schedule management, and project reporting .
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and consultants to maintain project timelines and quality standards.
  • Manage and track RFIs, submittals, change orders, and meeting minutes .
  • Participate in bid preparation and assist in the evaluation and selection of subcontractors and vendors.
  • Conduct site visits to monitor construction progress and identify potential challenges.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and contracts to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Assist with project closeout activities , including punch lists, warranties, and turnover documentation.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field .
  • 2–5 years of experience in a construction or development management role , ideally within multifamily residential or affordable housing sectors.
  • Working knowledge of construction sequencing, documentation, and scheduling .
  • Proficient in Procore, Microsoft Project, Excel, and Word .
  • Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and work collaboratively with diverse project teams.
