As a Pet Attendant at Pet Place, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care to pets, ensuring their safety, well-being, and happiness while staying at our facility. You will work directly with dogs and cats, supervise playgroups, clean the facility, and assist pet owners with check-ins and check-outs. The role requires a love for animals, attention to detail, and the ability to follow safety procedures in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Animal Care: Feed, administer medications, and monitor the health and behavior of pets under care.
- Cleaning & Sanitation: Maintain clean and sanitary conditions throughout the facility, including pet areas, kennels, play yards, and common spaces.
- Playtime & Socialization: Supervise pets during playtime and socialization, ensuring safe interactions and promoting positive behavior.
- Customer Service: Greet pet owners, provide updates on their pets, and address any questions or concerns.
- Health Monitoring: Observe pets for any signs of illness, injury, or behavioral issues and report concerns to management or veterinary staff.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate pet records, including feeding schedules, medications, and special care instructions.
- Safety Procedures: Follow established safety and emergency protocols to ensure the well-being of pets and staff.
Potential Job Hazards:
- Loud Noises (Barking): The facility can be noisy, with barking dogs and other animal sounds, which may be overwhelming at times.
- Exposure to Allergens & Pet Dander: Frequent exposure to pet allergens and dander from dogs and cats may occur.
- Contact with Cleaning Chemicals: Handling of cleaning agents used for sanitation purposes. PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) will be provided.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with animals in a daycare, boarding, veterinary, or grooming setting is preferred, but not required.
- Comfortable working with dogs and cats of all breeds and sizes.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Requirements:
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.
- Must pass a background check.
- Ability to handle high-stress situations calmly and professionally.
