Blackmon Power, LLC, a subsidiary of Blackmon Service, Inc., serves both Carolinas as a full-service Electrical and Testing Contractor. While specializing in data centers and critical facilities, we provide our services for various customers throughout the region. Our combination of customers and projects provides employees with a unique opportunity to work mainly indoors in tempered environments. We offer and self-perform a variety of electrical installation services including equipment installations, conduit, wiring, de-commissioning, installation of backup power systems, underfloor whips, etc. We also self-perform a wide variety of power testing services including circuit breaker and relay testing, thermal imaging, Arc-Flash studies, commissioning, switchgear maintenance and acceptance testing.
We are currently looking for a Power Test Technician for our Power Division to perform electrical acceptance and maintenance testing, arc-flash data gathering, commissioning support, and a variety of other testing services. This is a full-time position with benefits, some overtime may be needed. The position will require being on job sites as well as time spent in our Charlotte, NC office.
Job Functions
- Electrical Acceptance and Maintenance Testing by NETA Standards.
- Testing of instrument transformers, switchboards, transformers, motors, circuit breakers, and electrical generation and distribution equipment.
- Work with SKM software for power studies short circuit, OCPD coordination, and arc-flash analysis.
- Metering for load analysis and power quality.
- Support for commissioning efforts, including load banks, power quality meters, and infrared thermography.
- Testing and commissioning of DC systems.
- Ground testing.
- Evaluation of test results and customer recommendations.
- Detailed report writing.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities :
Understanding of NFPA 70E Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace.NETA or NICET Level II or greater preferred.Ability to interpret electrical schematics, one-lines, and wiring diagrams to understand and troubleshoot electrical systems.Ability to work well independently and in a team.Physical requirements required to perform all aspects of electrical testing, including (but not limited to) kneeling, crouching, climbing, balancing, lifting 50+ pounds, fine and gross motor skills, hearing, smelling, and vision to read fine print.Minimum Requirements :
3+ years of experience in electrical acceptance and maintenance testing.Must be able to legally work within the United States.Must have and maintain a valid drivers license.Maintaining high levels of organization, attention to detail, time / task management and interpersonal skills with the ability to positively interact with various levels both within and outside the organizationHigh School Diploma required; Technical Certifications, Military Training or College Degree in related field or equivalent in industry experience is preferredOur Benefits
