Western Digital is looking for an experienced Director of Benefits to be a key member of the Total Rewards team, delivering excellent service for employee benefits plans. This role will report to the VP of Total Rewards and will work closely with global total rewards, People Operations, People team Partners, Payroll, Legal, brokers and vendors. The ideal candidate is a subject matter expert in benefits plan design and administration; health and welfare plans, retirement plans, leave of absence management, wellbeing programs, employee communication, governance, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Develop overall employee benefits strategy and effective execution of the global benefit programs, including health and welfare, retirement, and wellness programs.
Provide guidance to regional total rewards managers and local HR regarding global benefits principles and processes. Examples include benefits design strategies and analysis, plan renewals, policies, benefits at termination, peer company principles, and position-to-market principles.
Scale and streamline the administration of benefits plans and programs to ensure efficient operations while keeping the employees' experience front and center.
Develop, maintain, and scale US and international health and welfare benefits strategies while providing benefits that meet diverse employees' needs based on local regulations, company culture, and business requirements.
Develop and prepare scorecards, metrics, and reports for management.
Provide leadership and partner with external benefits vendors (i.e., brokers, consultants, insurance carriers, record-keepers, trustee etc.) and legal counsel to ensure that benefits plans are compliant with all government regulations.
Implement a communications strategy to ensure employees understand and effectively utilize offerings.
Organize, create, and maintain standard operating procedures, including system and process documentation.
Evaluate vendor performance and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
Stay abreast of market trends, industry best practices and regulatory changes to ensure competitiveness and innovation in benefits offerings with feasible improvements.
Lead committees as needed in conjunction with business stakeholders (e.g., US 401(k) committee, etc.).
Qualifications
Proven track record, influential leadership across the organization, and relationship building with stakeholders. Ability to work with other areas such as HR Business Partners, Finance, Communications, HR Shared Services and communicate in concise way.
Demonstrated flexibility and efficient time management with the ability to prioritize workload to operate in a face-paced environment with competing priorities.
Knowledge of integrating benefits technology solutions with IT, HRIS payroll, vendors, and insurance carriers. Workday experience highly desired.
Experience in design and implementation of benefits programs across multiple geographies with M&A experience.
Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written.
Minimum ten (10) plus years of experience in benefits plan design with a focus on building and managing business aligned benefit programs; preferably gained while working for a global, complex matrixed organization or equivalent.
