Job Description

American Traveler is seeking a Med / Surg Tele RN with at least 2 years of experience and an active AK RN license for a day shift position.

Responsibilities

  • Work on a Med / Surg Telemetry unit in a hospital setting
  • 4 West unit primarily cares for orthopedic, neuro, surgical, and high behavioral health patients, with 75% ortho caseload
  • Day shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts from 7 : 00 to 19 : 00
  • Weekend coverage of 4-5 shifts per month is required
  • Floating required to other Med / Surg units
  • Uses Pyxis for medication administration
  • Documents in Cerner; Epic experience preferred
  • Patient diagnoses include total joints, fractures, stroke, neuro, general surgery cases, and behavioral health patients
  • Nurses perform special procedures such as administration of heparin and morphine, traction, epidurals, and some respiratory treatments
  • First time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Return staff must be away for at least 2 years before being eligible as a traveler
  • Required modules are completed onsite during orientation and annually, typically taking 4-5 hours
  • Locals are not accepted for this position

    • Requirements

  • Active AK RN license required prior to start; compact license accepted at time of consideration
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Med / Surg Tele experience required
  • Certifications required : BLS, CPI, MAB
  • Previous hospital experience with ortho / neuro and telemetry patients
  • Must live at least 100 miles from the facility
  • COVID vaccination required
