Description : We are seeking a dedicated Emergency Department Registered Nurse. The department sees an average of 200 patients per day. This is a very busy, fast-paced, and acute unit. The patient population includes heavy trauma stabilization cases such as gunshot wounds, stabbings, and a significant mental health, homeless, drug, and alcohol-addicted population. Common diagnoses include stroke, respiratory illnesses, chest pain, abdominal pain, and diabetes-related conditions. The typical RN patient ratio is variable but is usually 1 : 4. CNA and LPN patient ratios are also variable but typically 1 : 4 and 1 : 20, respectively. Daily responsibilities will involve general emergency department skillsets. Skills should include cardiac rhythm interpretation, experience with critical care drips, IV starts, administration of TNK / TPA, and conscious sedation. Support within the department includes CNA, receptionist, and charge nurse roles. Required technology includes an EMR system, IV pumps, and medication dispensing machines. Travelers may be required to float to different facilities as needed. Floating will occur within the designated region and will involve maintaining scope of practice. Travelers will be compensated for any travel time between facilities while on duty. Weekend rotation consists of every other weekend. Travelers will be expected to work 75% of holidays. Requests for time off may be approved up to 6 days, excluding holidays. All shifts will vary as needed, following a 6-week scheduling cycle. The unit culture promotes teamwork. Scrub color is navy.
