Job Description
Prepare and review complex tax returns for corporations, partnerships, and individuals.
Supervise, train, and mentor staff accountants ensuring high-quality and timely work output.
Conduct tax research and provide guidance on complex tax issues including planning opportunities and risk mitigation.
Review and ensure accuracy of workpapers, journal entries, and reconciliations related to tax accounts.
Manage client relationships and serve as a key point of contact for tax-related inquiries.
Monitor and ensure compliance with IRS, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual tax provisions (ASC 740) for financial statements.
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and strengthen internal tax processes.
Stay current on tax law changes and communicate their impact to management and clients.
Support audit activities and coordinate with external auditors as needed.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Masters in Taxation preferred).
Certification
CPA (Certified Public Accountant) required or in final stages of completion.
Experience
5-8 years of progressive experience in public accounting or corporate tax.
Prior experience supervising tax staff or managing engagements.
Technical Skills
Proficiency in tax software (e.g., GoSystem, ProSystem fx, CCH Axcess, or similar).
Strong understanding of federal and state income tax compliance and research.
Familiarity with ASC 740 and tax provision calculations.
Advanced knowledge of Excel and ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, etc.).
