Registered Nurse – Med Surg

Unit Name : 2nd Medical

Requirements :

Must have an active TN RN License or Compact RN License in good standing

Minimum 2 years of Med Surg experience

Certifications Required : BLS; NIH and CPI preferred

Must Have : Strong assessment skills; experience with IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing cabinets

Procedures Performed on Unit :

IV placement

Foley catheter placement

Unit Specifics : Number of Beds : 28

Patient Ratios : Days : 5–6 : 1; Nights : 6 : 1

Unit Staffing : Days : Unit Secretary, 2–3 PCTs

Equipment : Sara Steady, Wound Vac, Telehealth, Virtual Sitter equipment, remote telemetry

Documentation System : Meditech

Scheduling Requirements : Every other weekend (Sat / Sun); weekdays flexible

Floating Policy : PRN; most often float between Med Surg units

Patient Experience Requirements : Bedside shift report (BSSR), hourly rounding

Dress Code (Required) :

Black or Royal Blue scrubs
