Overview
The incumbent performs in a cross-functional capacity to coordinate activities and may learn to oversee various lines, from Disassembly to Assembly. Interacts with the Department Supervisor for direction in monitoring and directing the flow of work in the Production Departments. Supports Denso's Business Policy in the remanufacturing of alternators and starters by applying knowledge of all workstations, attains efficiency in processes and helps out in areas to support production demands. Complies with work procedures and all quality standards. The level of this position requires that the incumbent to work closely with the department Supervisor and other staff members, be hands-on, be well versed in the knowledge of the essential duties and responsibilities which are defined for the Remanufacturing, Levels I, II and III on all lines.
Responsibilities
- Gains knowledge of material handling and QA requirements, all teardown and assembly functions, use of assemblies, components and processes.
- Applies total knowledge of all processes in the scope of duties and ensures that the proper procedures are being followed and in accordance to Denso's quality and customer standards. Reviews and monitors the execution of tasks performed by Associates for accuracy.
- Monitors production lines, discusses changes needed to balance production with Supervisor and implement plan. Assesses departmental work load. Reviews work priorities with Supervisor and assigns to employees accordingly.
- Utilizes Work Orders to plan in advance, to set daily goals in accordance with production schedule. Applies planning skills to troubleshoot and resolves issues that arise in a timely manner.
- Verifies the availability of components and schedules work orders to be built on the lines.
- Sets up, reviews, analyze performance of various types of test benches and interprets results or diagnose issues.
- Uses and reads meters and gauges when performing some functions.
- Updates schedules daily, orders replacement parts and enters daily production data by means of AS400.
- Applies knowledge to review, resolve or report issues to Supervisor, which are encountered with work in process. Provides guidance to all associates.
- Creates worksheet used to generate product labels.
- Conducts job tasks, work instructions, machinery operation and safety training to all associates.
- Trains Material Handlers how to set up orders, the lines, tooling and on the use of AS400.
- Conducts inspection, performs operation and testing using the various types of testing devices used on each line.
- Operates and uses specialty made tooling, fixtures, painting tools, hand-held, power tools, conveyors and other industrial machinery.
- Handles the exchange of tooling and fixtures as needed on the lines.
- Reviews, analyze and make repairs to rejected units.
- Applies the concept of Kaizen to improve quality, processes and whenever new products are being developed and tested.
- Complies with work instructions and strict quality assurance protocols. Verifies that units meet the customer's standards.
- Works in conjunction with Production Control, Parts, QA and Supervisors to resolve any issues with units that are being built.
- Maintains the department clean, organized and safe.
- Pays attention to intricate details, performs work with accuracy, promotes and utilizes work and safety standards on a daily basis.
- Supports the demands of the operations by being punctual, have the flexibility to work a variety of shift schedules and daily overtime as needed.
- Adheres to all policies and works within the requirements of Denso's Safety, Environmental and Health Programs.
- Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

Required H.S. diploma or GED. Preferred Associate's degree. An Associate's degree (A.A.) from a two-year accredited college or currently enrolled in a program to earn an AA, and a minimum of five (5) years related work experience is required. Continued education is strongly encouraged.

Exposure is to a manufacturing environment, which lends itself to varying levels of exposure to dust, odor, fumes and temperature extremes dependent upon assigned location(s) within the manufacturing plant. Incumbent may be assigned to other areas such as clean room environments or areas where there may be medium to high noise levels requiring participation in the company's Hearing Conservation Program. Employee must wear appropriate protective welding gear, gloves, safety glasses, ear plugs, mask, steel-toed shoes, apron or other predefined personal protective equipment when working in the production and / or warehouse areas.While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. Throughout the course of the day, the employee is frequently required to sit, climb or stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.Depending on location, the employee may be exposed to temperature extremes varying from very hot in summer (up to 100 degrees) to very cold in winter (down to 45 degrees). While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often exposed to moving mechanical parts and material handling equipment.In the course of performing welding duties, if a part of assigned job, there is exposure to heat, bright light and airborne ember-like particles.
