Description
The Temporary Campus Store Cashier serves as a customer service contact to help ensure student, faculty and staff bookstore needs are met. The Temporary Campus Store Cashier uses a point of sale register to process sales in a timely, accurate and efficient manner; receipts money, checks, credit / debit cards, gift certificates and financial aid payments and reconciles their cash drawer to prepare a balanced bank deposit. He / She assists with receiving, pricing and merchandising store items and maintains the store in a neat, clean and orderly manner. This position is seasonal and hours will vary.
Duties / Functions
- Reconciles and balances a daily register deposit of cash, checks and charges
- Processes sales for textbooks, supplies, sundry / novelty items and financial aid charges using the point of sale system
- Assists in pricing, stocking and shelving of books, supplies and sundries
- Assists in receiving, verifying and checking-in of merchandise
- Answers incoming calls and assists customers with questions and concerns
- Ensures that the store is maintained in a clean and orderly manner and performs general cleaning duties between busy periods and at the beginning and end of the shift
- Assist the full time staff on special projects as assigned
- Possesses an awareness of all promotional items and advertisements
- Observes customer traffic and requests additional assistance as needed
- Demonstrate and model the College’s employability skills : adaptability, communication, information processing, problem solving, responsibility and teamwork.
