Description : A Registered Nurse is responsible for performing the nursing process as the basis for patient care. RNs provide direction and oversight to other licensed and non-licensed staff. Registered Nurses show compassion to recipients of services and coworkers through integrity, stewardship, empowerment, the promotion of diversity, and professional excellence. The Registered Nurse must demonstrate excellent customer service and enthusiasm for the program and organization. Principal Duties and Responsibilities : Assesses individuals' care needs and develops a plan of care in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team. Continually reassesses the plan of care according to individuals' needs. Collaborates with the physician to provide and coordinate nursing care for individuals and groups. Assists in teaching individuals and families, providing milieu management. Communicates with and educates individuals and families regarding discharge and after-care planning needs. Creates a safe and secure environment for individuals and staff in both individual and group settings. Documents, reports, and verifies all necessary information according to established policies and procedures. Monitors and reports to physicians any potential risks to individuals' safety that could lead to adverse outcomes. Creates a customer-friendly environment by following quality improvement standards and maintaining professionalism. Develops and maintains positive relationships with departments, coworkers, and external customers. Identifies specific needs of individuals and implements centered, compassionate care. Functions as a clinical leader, delegating and coordinating staff assignments while promoting staff development. Responsible for the utilization and continued review of patient care protocols, standards of practice, and standards of care. Gives input into processes for improvement and promotes careful use of resources. May be responsible for training direct care staff and oversight of medication and physical health activities. May be responsible for scheduling and obtaining pre-authorizations. Role models the mission and values of the organization, presenting a professional image. Provides spiritual, emotional, social, mental, and physical support to patients. Commits to demonstrating the model of care in various settings. Responsible for maintaining annual training and demonstrating competency in required programmatic training. Performs other duties or functions as assigned.
