Job description

Receiving Clerk

The Receiving Clerk is responsible for the efficient day-to-day inbound carrier verification process as directed by the Supervisor. They must ensure that drivers have been properly identified and all receiving documents are complete and accurate. The following duties and responsibilities are intended to be representative of the work that may be performed by the incumbent(s) in this position and are not all-inclusive. The omission of a specific duty or responsibility will not preclude it from the position.

Schedule : Mon - Fri, 5 : 00 AM - 1 : 30 PM

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing schedules for all inbound live loads by coordinating with suppliers.
  • Operating within ERP systems (JDE & SAP) and WMS Krber.
  • Communicating with Welcome Center to ensure door assignments for receiving loads are aligned.
  • Checking in all containers in accordance with established parameters.
  • Controlling inbound flows.
  • Performing container security checks to confirm all safety / quality standards are met.
  • Recording door / yard assignments into the yard management system and directing drivers to proper yard locations.
  • Confirming paperwork accuracy and completeness.
  • Assisting in tracking and reporting data pertinent to receipt / dispatch.
  • Communicating any inventory discrepancies that cannot be resolved to Inventory Control for further investigation.
  • Engaging quality department when loads have potential damages, holds, or when loads have issues preventing systemic receipt without resolution in 48 hours.
  • Becoming knowledgeable with the responsibilities of the other warehouse positions. Assisting as required.
  • Performing job activities in a safe and reasonable manner and in accordance with safety requirements.
  • Assisting in maintaining the security of the warehouse and conducting all activities in a manner that promotes a safe environment.
  • Reporting any suspicious persons or activity.
  • Maintaining a clean and professional image.
  • Ensuring the cleanliness of the facility by following guidelines as outlined.
  • Maintaining a clean, neat, and orderly work area always.

Educational Qualifications & Previous Experience

High school diploma or GED required. 2-3 years of relative experience.

Professional Skills & Key Competencies

  • Basic PC experience with good data entry skills.
  • Familiarity with basic MS Office : Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Ability to perform basic math.
  • Ability to read and write reports.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to include communication skills, verbal, written, and team building.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to manage and report on multiple projects at one time.
  • Ability to perform / operate in a metrics-driven environment.
  • Desired / Additional Skills & Knowledge

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions in Basic English.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical computations and apply to various operational tasks.
  • Good logic and reasoning ability. Ability to define problems and find logical solutions.
  • Ability to evaluate and resolve daily issues by exercising sound judgment.
