About the Role
The Assistant Vice President, Controller of Finance will be responsible for managing all accounting and financial reporting for the P&C insurance operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness in GAAP and statutory reporting. You will lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, supervise regulatory filings (such as NAIC and state insurance departments), and enforce internal controls, risk management practices, and financial policies. You will collaborate closely with actuarial, underwriting, and claims teams to ensure consistency in forecasting, reserve analysis, and budgeting. You will also liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulators, and mentor your finance team to drive operational excellence and continuous improvement.
Applicants should hold a Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; a CPA is strongly preferred. You must have at least 7 years' progressive experience in insurance finance, including at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity. Deep knowledge of P&C insurance accounting, statutory reporting, and relevant regulatory frameworks is essential. You should be familiar with insurance-specific financial systems or ERP platforms and have strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
