Responsibilities Work in a hospital-based acuity adaptable Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Patient population ranges from Medical Surgical to PCU, stepdown, and ICU levels of care Typical diagnoses include COPD, pneumonia, sepsis, UTI, and CHF Nurse-to-patient ratios vary from 1 : 4 to 1 : 6 based on acuity Night shift, 3x12-hour schedule (7 : 00 PM - 7 : 30 AM) Every other weekend required Floating required within the hospital and to nearby affiliate hospitals Specialized procedures and care for stepdown, telemetry, and intermediate care cases Uses Cerner EMR (Cerner experience preferred but not required) Charge nurse responsibilities required at times Care for a diverse patient population requiring intermediate and higher acuity care Charge responsibilities may include managing assignments and supporting the team Pre-start online learning modules required Black scrub bottoms and red tops are the required uniform Free parking is available for staff Must work at least 2 out of 3 major holidays during the assignment Not accepting local candidates for this position Travelers must have been separated from previous full-time or PRN IU employment for at least 12 months First-time travelers are welcome to apply Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO are auto-approved; additional RTO requires approval Requirements Active IN or compact RN license required prior to start Minimum of 18 months to 2 years of recent PCU, stepdown, or telemetry RN experience Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required (AHA or RQI accepted) Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program Ability to float within scope to various units as needed Must be comfortable caring for patients with varying acuity, including ICU-level patients Cerner charting experience preferred Must be willing to act as charge nurse Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-628397.
