Description :

This position involves floating between various emergency room locations in the area.

The schedule will be made in advance so the traveler is aware of where they will be reporting.

No holiday time off is available for this role.

Travelers are required to pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to starting.

There are 2 maximum attempts allowed for the exam.

A pass / fail Sim Lab is required on the first day of orientation, with study guides provided.

Travelers will be expected to complete SIMs Lab for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes.

Nurses may be terminated during SIMs Lab for breaking the sterile field.

Competence in maintaining a sterile field is crucial, as these are frequently performed nursing skills.

If a candidate does not feel competent in these areas, they may not be a good fit for this role.

In addition to SIMs Lab, travelers will also participate in educational training concerning lifts, restraints, and wound care.

The emergency room will typically have a nurse-to-patient ratio of 4 : 1.

Weekend shifts are required every other weekend.

Holidays are required as needed.

Scrub color is Galaxy Blue.

Ventilation capability is required.

Lab draws will be performed by emergency room staff.

There will not be an IV team.

Shifts are 12 hours in length, and floating will occur.

Floor-specific orientation is provided.

Cancellation policy applies for shifts as specified.

The charting system used is CERNER.

A BSN degree is preferred but not required.

Trauma level care settings are applicable.
