Title : Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager
Department : Environmental Health & Safety
Supervised by : Director of Operations
Location : Whitehouse Station, NJ
Salary Range : $90,000 – $100,000 (depending on experience)
Urgency : This position needs to be filled as soon as possible.
Job Summary
The EHS Manager will contribute to the success of the organization by ensuring regulatory compliance, accident prevention, and continuous improvement of environmental, health, and safety programs. The primary goal of this position is to protect employees, customers, and the environment. The EHS Manager will provide collaborative, proactive, and creative problem-solving to develop effective EHS programs that strengthen the overall strategy and management system.
Minimum Required Qualifications
The minimum required qualifications for this position include, but are not limited to, the following :
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Safety, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
Minimum 5 years of related experience required.
Experience in food manufacturing preferred.
Demonstrated practical knowledge of workplace and employee safety policies and procedures, including accident and injury prevention.
Environmental permitting experience required.
Proven track record of driving cultural change in EHS.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and influence management skills.
High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage and complete multiple projects on time.
Ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks efficiently and effectively.
Strong teamwork skills and willingness to assist others.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to work cooperatively with others and adapt to changing priorities.
Ability to work assigned schedules and comply with all attendance policies.

Essential Job Functions
Essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to :
Implement, execute, and ensure compliance with the organization’s Environmental, Health, and Safety policies and procedures.
Develop and facilitate the completion of a site-wide annual EHS training plan and conduct new-hire safety orientations.
Participate in formal EHS reviews for existing equipment modifications, new equipment purchases, and process changes.
Interface with regulatory agencies (OSHA, EPA, State / Local Regulators) and vendors.
Lead the incident investigation process, including root cause analysis and development of corrective action plans.
Drive EHS initiatives that reduce incidents, environmental impact, and costs; establish priorities and coordinate implementation with managers, safety teams, and other personnel.
Communicate and celebrate EHS successes to promote ongoing company-wide commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
Maintain a regular presence on the plant floor and provide support for off-shifts and weekends as needed.
Facilitate plant safety committee meetings.
Ensure all required regulatory permits are acquired, reports submitted, and permit conditions (sampling, recordkeeping, etc.) are met.
Additional Responsibilities
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing networks, and participating in professional associations.
