Overview of Duties and Responsibilities :

This position promotes the mission, vision, values and strategic plan of Neighborhood Service Organization and helps to achieve the objectives of the Finance Department. The Senior Financial Analyst responsibilities include; leading the financial planning and budgeting processes, analyzing financial statements and reports, developing financial models, preparing cash flow and other projections, and performing research and analysis as may be required by leadership.

Education, Licensure and Experience Requirements :

Education :

Bachelor’s degree in accounting required

Required Licensure : N / A

Minimum Required Experience :

  • Two to five years financial analysis or accounting experience
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational, analytical and multitasking skills
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Federal grant contract experience desired
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent skill level in Microsoft Excel and proficient with Word and Power Point
  • Experience with non-profit accounting preferred
  • Experience in Intacct or similar cloud-based financial system.
  • Must be detail oriented.

Job Knowledge and Comprehension

  • Primary Job Role
  • The senior financial analyst's responsibilities include, in coordination with CFO, leading the financial planning and budgeting processes, analyzing financial statements and reports, developing financial models, preparing cash and other projections, and performing research and analysis as may be required by leadership. As a senior financial analyst, you will also be responsible for providing project teams with financial guidance and assisting with the monthly close process. Responsibilities also include revenue and cash posting and accounts receivable management, including aged receivables documentation. As well as financial management of grants and contracts that are assigned.

    To be successful as a senior financial analyst, you should be able to perform a variety of financial activities including planning, analysis, budgeting, and reporting. You should also have strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills and be able to present financial information and models in a concise and easily comprehensible manner.

    Essential Job Duties

  • Primary Job Duties :
  • Leading annual operating and capital budgeting processes
  • Assisting with monthly close process
  • Reviewing and analyzing financial statements and reports.
  • Tracking KPIs and preparing financial reports.
  • Understanding key business drivers.
  • Developing financial projections and building financial models.
  • Ensuring compliance with financial guidelines, company policies, and relevant legal regulations.
  • Prepares and submits funder billings as required; Communicates with funders as required
  • Prepares program and contract budgets and forecasts as required.
  • Ensures financial compliance with all assigned contracts, including billing submission and financial reporting requirements.
  • Reconciles all revenue and receivable accounts associated with assigned contracts.
  • Conducts financial analysis of budget to actual performance for assigned programs and contracts.
  • Analyzes contracts for cash management, compliance, contract spending and cost-settlements
  • Processes and reviews Cash Receipts for all accounts.
  • Assists in preparation for annual audit.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Controller, CFO, and / or senior management.

  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures and applicable rules and regulations of grantors.
  • Adheres to established quality and performance improvement standards.
  • Works effectively with others to accomplish goals / resolve problems.
  • Professionally represents NSO and models the pillars and guiding principles of NSO at all times.
  • Working Conditions and Necessary Capabilities

    Working in an office environment and able to move about the physical facilities. The person may travel on agency or unit business.
