The Department of Corrections is accepting applications for Teacher Juvenile MS - Science, Long Creek Youth Development Center, Maine.
JOB DESCRIPTION :
The A.R. Gould School operates year-round. Regulated by the Department of Corrections, the Department of Education and State Statutes (Title 20-A and Title 20) the school is required to meet the Common Core State Standards governing legislative mandates and federal guidelines of the NCLB. Additionally, both Performance Based Standards and American Correctional Association set the standards, regulate and regularly monitor the education of incarcerated youth. The Science program for the students of the A.R. Gould School includes all students of A.R Gould school. The Science program for the school must meet the requirements of the Maine Department of Education. This includes providing a life and earth science for every committed student and is a necessity to maintain the American Correctional Association (ACA) accreditation and Performance based standards (PbS) compliance. Both ACA and PbS are nationally recognized to audit correctional facilities to determine the facility maintains nation standards on resident care and custody.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM THE JOB SUCCESSFULLY :
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
A bachelor's degree in education, Special Education or a related field.
LICENSING / REGISTRATION / CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS : (These must be met by all employees prior to attaining permanent status in this class).
Maine Teacher's Certification for the appropriate subject and / or grades as issued by the Department of Education. Preference will be given to applicants who possess a Special Education 282 (7-12), Special Education 282 (K-8)
